Heaven Tanudiredja is an emerging talented young Indonesian fashion designer who is based in Paris, France. He was born on June 7th, 1982 in Bali, Indonesia from three generations of the respective family of Tanudiredja. He recalled that even though growing up in Bali, Jakarta and Singapore had made him felt so far from fashion, but everything he has been doing nowadays were inspired by his childhood memories.
When he was 15 years old, he started his first job in fashion as an assistant designer in BIYAN, a respectable label in Indonesia. This job lasted for 7 years. After completing his diploma in fashion design and pattern making at Esmod, Jakarta (l’Ecole Supérieure Des Arts Et Techniques De La Mode) in 2001, he decided to achieve higher education in fashion at the prestigious Belgian art school, Hogeschool Antwerpen, whose alumni included designers such as Ann Demeulemeester, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dirk Van Saene, Dries Van Noten, Marina Yee and Walter Van Beirendonck or known as the Antwerp Six.
In 2007 he represented his school at International Talent Support and won the First Vertice Award. His collection, “The Poetry Memory”, which took inspiration from Elsa Schiaparelli’s, Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s works had showed his artistic approach and novelty and pushed the limits of fashion design towards art.
Between his studies, Heaven managed to work for John Galliano at Christian Dior Haute Couture and as a backstage assistant for Raf Simon and Dries Van Noten Fashion Show. He established his own handmade accessories couture line in 2007, and brought his melancholy and surrealistic philosophy in every pieces of his collection by using the selection of antique material that he’s been collecting since his youth.
After the well touted accessories line 2007 presentation in Paris and Milan, he received both recognition by the fashion press and his first store orders from various retailers such as Barneys ? New York, Vertice – Torino, Sien- Antwerp, The Shine Hong Kong and soon Club 21 – Singapore.
Whether in his collaborations line with Dries Van Noten or his own line, Heaven surely never failed to charm us.
