GREY IN BERLIN

I’ve worked so much this couple of months (yes, unfortunately I have my day job in order to feed myself and pay my bills).  I’m finding it hard to put together a sentence.  I have nothing really verbose or eloquent to say about The T-shirt Issue Project other than AMAZING.

Berlin-based Mashallah Design and Linda Kostowski have created items of clothing by scanning human bodies and using the data to create sewing patterns.  The human form is turned into 3D patterns of polygons, which are then turned into 2D files and used to laser cut fabric.

In this project, they transformed grey jersey fabric which is associated with sweatshirts or jogging bottoms into a sculpture.  In my opinion this reinterpretation of grey jersey is the perfect example how fashion and art go hand in hand.
