Born and bred in a small town in South Yorkshire, England, Gemma Slack did what many people do: leave the suburbs and moved to the big city.
When she was studying fine arts at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, she was advised to change her direction to fashion design. Soon she finds herself swapping paintbrushes for sewing kits at the London College of Fashion and graduated with a first class honours degree.
After a two year apprenticeship with the current King of Goth, Gareth Pugh, she decided to establish her own line which has already caught the attention of the Fashion Blog Queen, Diane Pernet. There is no doubt with this type of experience and fan base, she is a rising star in the making.

For AW 09/10 Collection, her inspiration comes from religious crusaders, medieval armor techniques manifested in engraved gorgers and epaulettes accessories. A mini dress features hand molded, leather “scales” that snake down the back, while the high, tubular collars and shoulders of a velvet motorcycle jacket are shaped with Hungarian goose down takes on body shapes and human silhouettes. Perhaps this is body armor at its best.
